Brock Purdy’s Curiosity: Comparing JFK Assassin Lee Harvey Oswald

There are athletes with celebrity doppelgangers. Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff bears a resemblance to actor Ryan Gossling. Former Super Bowl-winning signal-caller Nick Foles kinda looks like Napolean Dynamite star Jon Heder.

But when it comes to Brock Purdy, some folks on social media are comparing him appearance-wise to Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated former President John F. Kennedy.

And during media availability before Super Bowl LVIII, a reporter asked the San Francisco 49ers QB about his supposed lookalike.

“Have you ever heard that before?” the reporter asked.

“I haven’t that’s my first time hearing it,” Purdy replied.

When asked his thoughts, he paused and replied, “Yeah, I don’t know.”

In case you slept through your history classes, Oswald shot and killed JFK on Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas, and the assassination spawned conspiracy theories and movies.

The comparison was first made on X/Twitter by a user named Josh Chavis.

“Holy s—t. Been trying to figure out who Brock Purdy looks like for the last 2 years and it’s Lee Harvey Oswald,” Chavin tweeted.

Purdy is in his second year with the San Francisco 49ers. He was famously the last player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft — Mr. Irrevelant.

This season, Purdy guided the Niners to a 12-5 record. He threw for 4,280 yards — a new franchise record — 31 TDs, and 11 INTs while leading the league in QBR (72.7). Purdy is an MVP finalist.

San Francisco almost went into this season with Tom Brady at the helm, if it could convince the seven-time Super Bowl winner to unretire again.
