The NFL has moved the commissioner’s annual Super Bowl press conference to a Monday, limiting press attendance and making the event invite-only. The move is reminiscent of tactics employed by Donald Trump and some believe that journalist Jim Trotter’s earlier questioning of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s may have contributed to the change. Trotter has filed a lawsuit alleging racial discrimination and retaliation by the NFL, and numerous claims of racist behavior by NFL owners have been made. The league is seeking to dismiss the lawsuit and has hired the first Black woman to serve as U.S. Attorney General to defend them, which is seen as a common tactic for wealthy individuals accused of racial bias.
