Ja Morant breaks silence on altercation with teen

Ja Morant punched a teenager in the face during a game of pickup basketball at his Memphis home in July of 2022. Joshua Holloway, who was 17 at the time, is suing Morant, claiming the incident occurred after a physical basketball game that turned violent. Morant alleges that Holloway threw a pass into his face, leading to a physical altercation where Morant hit Holloway in self-defense. Morant is expected to return to the NBA after serving a suspension for unrelated reasons. During an immunity hearing to determine if the case should be dismissed under Tennessee’s “Stand Your Ground” law, Morant testified about the incident and his perception of the events that led to it. The case is ongoing, and additional testimonies are expected to be heard before a ruling is made.
