Patrick Dumont, Miriam Adelson’s son-in-law, will serve as the Mavs’ governor. Adelson inherited the wealth from her late husband. She is the largest shareholder of the Las Vegas Sands Corp and is the fifth wealthiest woman in the world. The Adelsons were significant financial backers of Donald Trump in the 2016 election. Some were surprised to see Cuban relinquish his control of the Mavericks. However, Adelson and her family already own another basketball team. Adelson is the third woman to own an NBA franchise.
