The NHL’s top winter classic had a brawl, but it wasn’t on the ice.

On the NHL on TNT set during the intermission report, the former enforcer, and NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette got into a heated fight with the Seattle Kraken’s mascot Buoy. This fight was brewing since the preseason of the Kraken’s 2022-23 season, when the team’s first-ever mascot was introduced. The mascot was inspired by the Fremont Troll, and Bissonnette didn’t have pleasant things to say about it.

In an episode of the podcast Spittin’ Chiclets, he called it the ugliest mascot of all time, sparking the ongoing beef with Buoy that resulted in their fight at the 2024 Winter Classic.

The fight occurred during intermission, and the feud has definitely made the coverage of hockey as entertaining as it deserves to be. Let’s hope for a rematch soon!
