Steelers Part Ways with Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada

The Rooney family, which owns the Pittsburgh Steelers, ended loyalty to the offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who was fired two days before Thanksgiving and less than a week after an ugly loss to the Cleveland Browns. Under Canada’s system, the Steelers trailed in the fourth quarter in every win and have been outgained in yardage by every team they’ve faced this season. The Steelers decided to fire Canada midseason, despite a history of valuing organizational loyalty and stability.

The fired coordinator squandered the final season of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s career and the first year-and-a-half of Kenny Pickett’s. With Pickett as quarterback, the team may be looking for his replacement in the draft if his performance does not improve.
