C.J. Stroud’s first season in the NFL has been historic. As a rookie, he has outperformed many veteran quarterbacks in the league. Since Week 1 of the 2021 season, Stroud has helped the Houston Texans to their first above .500 record. In fact, through nine games, he’s proven to have no limits in his capabilities on the field. As of week 10, the Texans have a 5-4 record.
Stroud’s stats also speak volumes; having thrown for 2,626 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only two interceptions, while averaging 8.3 yards per attempt. He’s clearly a top candidate for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and perhaps even the MVP if the Texans can secure an AFC South title.
However, Stroud’s success is not solely his own. The Texans have managed to build a strong foundation around him. Legendary ex-NFL player DeMeco Ryans was hired as head coach, bringing with him an experienced coaching staff. Additionally, key players such as Jimmie Ward, Sheldon Rankins, and Will Anderson IV have been added to the team’s roster. The Texans’ offense has also been bolstered with signings such as Dalton Schultz and Tank Dell.
The Texans have worked hard to build a competent team around Stroud, which has ultimately allowed his exceptional talent to shine.
