Steve Wilks getting fired from coaching jobs isn’t just a coincidence. Carolina Panthers owner Dave Tepper has now fired 3 interim coaches and seen 6 coaches overall since buying the team in 2018. The Panthers would have been better off if Wilks was still in charge. He finished the season with a 6-6 record as an interim coach, and players wanted him as the head coach. The new hire, Frank Reich, won just 1 game and was fired after 10 games. Wilks was also let go as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and replaced by a college coach. Since then, their performance has been worse. Last year, Wilks sued the NFL for racist hiring practices, and now, Antonio Pierce is the interim coach for the Las Vegas Raiders after the previous coach was fired. It’s all connected.
