Bauer’s Pathetic Redemption Tour
Just days after I wrote about athletes trying to use sportswriters to restore their reputations, Trevor Bauer is proving my point. He’s trying to rehabilitate his image and get back into Major League Baseball after being accused of sexual assault. Bauer said he wants to pitch in MLB again and claims his agents have been in contact with teams, but I doubt any team will want to sign him. His personal growth and public apologies don’t change the fact that he was suspended for sexual assault allegations. He may claim to have made mistakes, but he doesn’t fully acknowledge or understand the impact of his alleged behavior. The possibility of additional allegations and the media attention that accompanies the signing of a controversial player should make any serious MLB team rethink signing him.
